In an article in the Dallas News, the subject of mandatory voter identification at the polls has become a hot topic, partisan issue in the state of Texas, one the fastest growing states in terms of Latino population. Though there is legitimacy in the idea of protecting the integrity of voting at the poll, an idea that the article stated many Latinos agree with, Latinos in general do not take kindly is being targeted:

"One way to get Latinos upset is to start criminalizing them, to IMPLY they are criminals," he said. "And Hispanics should take this personally, because it is aimed at them."
