Immigrant rights activists in El Paso have decided to take their disapproval of immigration reform proposals to the streets.
Manuel Velez, an English professor at El Paso Community College and the coordinator for the school's new Chicano Studies program, said several groups want to expand a migrant workers march scheduled for César Chávez Day on Friday to include a protest of H.R. 4437. That is the immigration bill that passed the House in December and that includes provisions for constructing a 700-mile border wall and for making being in the United States without documents a felony.
